What’s New | Dashboard Personalization
Published 2023-01-10

Summary: It’s fall, the coffee is warmer, and your metrics just got a lift. We've packed a lot in this update: Smarter labels, a faster way to explore and preview data, quarterly time periods that match planning cycles, clearer trend and comparison visuals, and small workflow wins you feel every day. Take a quick read, then head back to your dashboards with fresh clarity.

Smarter labels that explain themselves

Dynamic metric naming and viz titles

When adding a metric to a dashboard and the visualization includes segments, a default name is applied that includes the segmentation and over properties. For example: Hits by Channel Over Time.

What’s New | Dynamic Metric Naming

Visualization titles now include the segmentation, the dimension (time or non‑time), and the specific periodicity. For example: New Users by Channel over Time (Weekly).

Discover data insights with Explorer

Bring one or more metrics into Explorer, a free‑form space for testing ideas and answering questions. Customize freely, then reset with a click.

A new way to see your data

Each metric has a homepage that presents it from multiple angles. The page is auto‑generated using a curated template based on your metric. Keep the defaults or use them as a starting point.

Time that fits your planning cycles

Quarterly time periods for metrics

What’s New | Quarterly Time Periods for Metrics

Select quarterly periods under Over when exploring. Quarters follow the calendar: Q1 starts Jan 1, Q2 starts Apr 1, Q3 starts Jul 1, Q4 starts Oct 1.

Date range improvements

The date range UI makes it clear when a range includes today. Presets were updated: Last 7 days and Last 30 days include today, and Last 6 months and Last 12 months include this month.

Clearer charts, cleaner comparisons

Trend line redesign

Trend lines display as a long‑dash style, appear in the legend, and work with multi‑metrics.

Metric visualization improvements

Add points to line and combination charts. Set line thickness for line and area charts or remove lines on area charts. Comparative data is easier to scan: dashed lines for line and area charts, lighter bars and columns for bar and column charts. Comparative periods appear last in the legend so you can show or hide them quickly.

Dashboards and filters that get out of the way

Metric dashboard filtering

Choose to automatically display all available filters for all metric visualizations on a dashboard. Enabled for new dashboards by default, with a simple toggle when you want to manage filters manually.
