Whatsnew K2 Advanced Analysis
Published 2024-03-05

Summary: Smarter analysis, stronger governance, and quicker sharing. This season’s highlights bring prediction to your metrics, trust badges to your catalog, dbt Semantic Layer access for your teams, and admin shortcuts that save time every day.

Decide with confidence

Advanced analysis helps you spot what’s unusual and what’s likely next.

Normal range and forecast

Make better decisions by seeing how your metric typically behaves, then where it’s headed. Normal range marks expected values so you can catch outliers fast. Forecast projects future performance to help you plan without guesswork.
Try it:

  • Open a metric in Explorer.
  • Turn on normal range to see the band of expected values.
  • Enable forecast to view predicted values over the selected horizon.

Build trust in your catalog

Give everyone clear signals about which metrics to use and how to read them.

Metric certification

Add certified status to the metrics you’ve verified and want others to use. Certification applies to instant, instant (calculated), custom, and calculated metrics. Look for the blue certified check mark beside the metric name anywhere it appears.
Try it:

  • Open a metric you own or can edit.
  • Set its status to certified.
  • Share the link so your team knows it’s the trusted version.

Prevent or allow aggregation overrides

Changing an aggregation can change meaning. Now you decide whether editors can override a metric’s default aggregation on a per‑metric basis.
Try it:

  • Open metric settings.
  • Locate aggregation override permissions.
  • Disable or enable overrides based on how strict a definition you need.

Bring your dbt metrics to life

dbt Semantic Layer integration delivers a streamlined metrics catalog for discovery, visualization, and dashboards.

Use dbt metrics and see the SQL

Visualize dbt Semantic Layer metrics, then view the generated queries for each visualization. You can also copy queries to help with debugging or documentation.
Try it:

  • Connect to your dbt Semantic Layer.
  • Add a dbt metric to a chart or dashboard.
  • Open query details to view or copy the SQL.

Get hands‑on with your data

Sometimes you need raw rows for troubleshooting or a quick export.

Download data feeds as CSV files

Grab a CSV right from the data feeds list. It’s handy when you’re checking a data issue or when you need a CSV‑formatted version of JSON data.
Try it:

  • Open the data feeds list.
  • Select a feed.
  • Choose Download as CSV.

Share faster and manage access with less effort

Admin tasks shouldn’t slow you down. New flows speed up invites and sharing.

Improved user and group management

Invite users while sharing, update their role during the invite, and place them in a group, including the new Default group. It’s also easier to find metrics that aren’t shared with you.
Try it:

  • Share a dashboard or metric.
  • Enter an email, pick a role, and assign a group.
  • Use filters to spot metrics you can’t access yet.

Faster asset sharing

Select multiple metrics and share them all at once. One action, many recipients.
Try it:

  • Open your metrics list.
  • Select several items.
  • Choose Share, then pick recipients and permissions.
